Sharing data with PRO/E

I'm importing a Step file written out by PRO/E. All the objects seem to be recognized (1091 with 2 invalid) however only a few actually show up on screen (less than 100). Is there something I can do on the import side, or even on the export side to fix this problem?

thanks

Gary,

Can you send us the STEP file at support@varicad.com so that we can look into the cause? Thank you.

Best Regards
Marek

Well, unfortunately no, it's on our internal only network. I'll see if I can isolate a single assembly or part that exhibits the behavior and forward that. I realize there's not much you can tell me without something to work with.

thanks
Problem Update
Marek;

As it turns out all the objects do show up, however about 10% are scaled wrong. The bulk of the objects that I thought were missing are just very small relative to the ones I was seeing. My original file is in inches format and the dimensions are correct on the small objects (the ones I originally thought were missing) with the large ie visible, objects scaled up by a factor of 25.4. So, at first blush it seems that some of the dimensions in the step file are interpreted as inches and some as millimeters. I'm not particularly well versed in the format of step files but I'm continuing to look into it. If anything occurs to you, let me know

Thanks
Gary
Problem Update
Gary,

According to what you wrote there seems to be a problem in the file. STEP format allows saving some objects in inches while others are in millimeters - but without a possibility to check the file we are really not able to tell you what is wrong with it.

Units Mismatch
Marek;

I understand that, I'm troubled by why Pro/E and also PolyTrans (which uses a PTC library to import STEP files) both show what I expect. I don't think Varicad is doing anything wrong, it seems to be a compatibility issue.

I hope to be able to isolate whats causing this and forward a small example that illustrates the issue. Unfortunately I can't forward the original file.

I was actually overjoyed that all the parts transferred, even with scaling/placement issues.

thanks
