System requirements

Windows version

The minimal required configuration:

  • at least 2GHz processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • Graphic card with hardware support of OpenGL 4 graphics (e.g. NVIDIA GTX graphics chip)
  • 3 (5)-button mouse with the scroll wheel
  • Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit operating systems)

Linux version

The minimal required configuration:

  • OpenGL libraries
  • XServer supporting OpenGL (extension GLX)
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 3 (5)-button mouse with the scroll wheel
  • Graphic card with hardware support of OpenGL 4 graphics

According to results of extensive tests, VariCAD is rather less demanding than comparable competitive products. VariCAD can run on less powerful hardware. On the other side, VariCAD can efficiently exploit multiple core processors, hardware accelerated OpenGL, more system RAM or more VRAM (RAM on graphic cards), and for large assemblies, advantages of SSD. If 5-button mouse is used, additional two buttons are supported, too.

Hardware and software recommendations for large assemblies (aprox. thousands of parts):

  • Multi-core processor, e.g. Intel Core i5-4460
  • 8 - 16GB RAM, for extremely large data more
  • Graphic card with hardware support of OpenGL 4 graphics (NVIDIA GTX/Quadro graphics chip, 2GB RAM), e.g. GIGABYTE N960IXOC-2GD
  • 5-button mouse with the scroll wheel
  • 64-bit operating systems: Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11 or Linux

Adding more RAM to your system enhances VariCAD performance significantly.

Support of OpenGL 4 is always required.
