Hi, The development of this feature has it advanced? It is indeed a shame not to create a link between different parts in an assembly. Thank you . |

Parameters, parts vs assembly |

Hi, As I wrote before, I love parameters, but at their current stage they are missing a lot of functionality. Objects can not be positioned at x,y,z coordinates given by parameters, for example. But now another issue: I create a part file, and the object in this part file is described in terms of parameters. If I put this part into an assembly, I can edit the parameters of this part in this assembly file as well, but I can not use them in the assembly. If I use variables with the same name, they are created 'in another scope', and they are independent. Also, sharing parameters among different parts is not possible. In a project, containing many parts, I would really benefit a lot if I could build my parts using the same set of parameters, and then changing the parameters at one place would affect ALL my parts. For example if I have different parts, which must have the same length, then I would build them up using the same parameter, and voila, with one click all of them would change. I can imagine a solution to this problem in the form of having 'parameter files', where I set up all my parameters, then I could include this file in all my part and assembly files. Something like header files in C/C++. Do you have any suggestion how to overcome this problem in the current stage? Do you plan to improve on this? Thank you |
