2D to 3D Text extrude
Hi!

Is there any way to extrude text line to 3D? And how?

To extrude text, you need to explode the font first. Use the BTF command (menu: Edit > Dimensions and Text > Explode Font.

Once you have done the above, you will be able to extrude the text into a 3D solid.

But the Extrude tool says "Inner profile is outside external profile" when I select the exploded text line.....

This may happen for some fonts, but can be resolved.

Of course, the simplest solution is to change the font, for example, to Ariel. Then you will be able to extrude without problems.

If you need to keep using a font causing the above problem, you can resolve it in the following way:
While selecting the object (letter) for extrusion, use the option "Detect Profile Segments" from the selection floating menu.

I found that there is no problem extruding a letter, but the problem is when trying to extrude a whole text line....

I also tried another way to Extrude text line - I created a rectangle around the text line and then tried to extrude..... The Extrude tool said "Too many included profiles"....

The second option can be used for some text (depending on what letters are used etc.).. But generally, you should extrude a letter by letter.
Solid or Text Extrusion
If you want to extrude a profile, including broken font outlines, you can select only one outer outline encompassing more inner outlines. An inner outline must not contain any other included outlines (only one level of insertion is allowed).

For the text extrusion, don't use the old VariCAD fonts. Breaking a true-type font, you obtain a poly-lines well suitable for extrusion.

You can extrude letter by letter, but each particular letter must contain only one outer outline. Otherwise extrude the letter at more steps (for instance, if western script contains a letter with diacritic mark, or, for extrusion of a lot of Chinese characters etc...)
