I have worked out how to use the Helix command to make the basic spring helix; but how do we get a neat 90 degree hook or loop on each end for a tension spring, or indeed close the ends into a circle for a compression spring? I have tried using the Add command with no satisfactory result. The alternative (preferred) would be a library of 3D models in a format that can be used in VariCAD. Any constructive help would be very much appreciated. |

Anyone got advice on how to model tension springs? or alternatively where I can get a spring part file that can be used with VariCAD? |

Hi: I also worked a lot with both compression springs and tension springs and have figured out the following. 1. Create a helix, 2. At and helix end start the command Wires, 3. Continue until desired loop is reached, 4. Align the plane of the wire with the plane of the helix end with Z-axis to normal, for example, 5. Add solid. However, you may always find an element in STEP format on the links: https://grabcad.com/ http://www.tracepartsonline.net |
