exporting step format
Hi

I would like to know wether it is possible, in a complete assembly of several parts, export a single part from this assembly as a step file reatining itsgeometrical position in the assembly...

my problem is that a Finite elements mesher that i use, allows me to mesh individual parts, and import the individual meshes to impose boundary and contact conditions, but if i import the full assembly as step file, it will not discriminate the several parts in the assembly...

Can this be done in varicad...?

Exporting the parts that build the assembly... retaining position information...?

Once i build the parts i still have to displace them to fit the assembly... so I guess that exporting the parts saved as step files will not retain positional information related to the assembly....

"Save Selected"
This is no problem in VariCAD. Perform "Save Selected" from pull-down menu "File", select a solid you want to save, select STEP format. The coordinates of selected solid are saved together with its geometry. But you have to save each object individually.
